The two friends have plans to someday own a ranch and be their own boss, but being short on cash, they must first get a job and save up to make this happen. George, being an intelligent but small man, leads the way and is responsible for taking care of Lennie, a giant but mentally retarded man – whose inability to learn or control his emotional and physical strength always gets them into trouble and subsequently fired from jobs. In ‘Of Mice and Men,’ the characters George and Lennie travel miles on foot to seek employment at a ranch after losing their previous job. ‘Spoiler-Free’ ‘ Of Mice and Men‘ Summary

Interestingly, the book starts and ends in only four days – from Thursday to Sunday precisely, but is packed with stories and adventures that leave the reader with lessons able to stick for a lifetime. I hope this review encourages you to read Of Mice and Men because it is a truly great book and I would give it a 4.5 out of 5.‘Of Mice and Men‘ is written by John Steinbeck and is a short novella consisting of a hundred and seven pages exploring the ordeals of the ordinary working-class Americans post Great Depression. This shows the greatness of the book because it shows how the book packs that all in (racism, sexism, the Depression, etc) yet in so little time. Yet another good thing about this book is that it is not long and does not drag on (like other great books as The Great Gatsby and To Kill A Mockingbird) which is great for readers who do not like to read long books and get bored when reading long books.

The great thing about that is that it shows some of the other characters' feelings about the situations they are being put in and shows how Steinbeck feels about racism and sexism.

The book is great because, not only the great use of description, but the characters because Steinbeck shows how children are, in some cases, better people than adults in the way that they do not judge people because they do not see people or things from that point of view (an example being childlike Lennie who has a mental disability though they didn't know that at the time the book is based).
